NCLB is a federal gezegde

NCLB is a federal law. Vermont complies with the law. Beyond that, I have no desire, nor will I allow it to drive the education vision of this state.

The governor will outline a comprehensive plan to offer Vermont residents an opportunity to receive a higher education here in Vermont so that they can then work here and raise a family. It's a proposal that will affect an entire generation of school students in the state of Vermont.

His analysis of Sen. Bartlett's proposal is accurate. The governor's vision of making a Vermont college education affordable and accessible for every family is important to the long-term economic security of Vermont. It is the single best use of this available resource.

It's unfortunate for the state of Vermont and particularly the syrup industry because you're eliminating the word Vermont on maple syrup on our product and all over the United States. Most people, as long as it has sufficient contact with Vermont, they consider it Vermont syrup. They don't care where the tree is.

The governor's vision is to make Vermont affordable for Vermonters by offering a scholarship program that is going to put a college education within reach to thousands of people who currently don't have access to it.

While the ideals espoused in No Child Left Behind (NCLB) are admirable, the realities of the Bush plan are not, ... NCLB imposes rigid and expensive mandates on public schools. It judges adequate yearly progress using a one-size-fits-all formula, a measure that gives schools an incentive to lower testing standards in order to meet federal requirements and, sadly, to push out students that may bring down a school's average score.
