 While masked by the high cost of fuel, our restructuring initiatives have begun to produce tangible results this quarter in the form of increased unit revenue and lower mainline non-fuel costs.

 Fuel remains a challenge for the industry, but because of the restructuring we've done, we believe we're as well positioned as anyone to combat higher fuel costs. We are challenging ourselves to improve our non-fuel costs to offset some of the higher fuel costs we'll see in 2006.

 Despite record high fuel prices in early October, the downward trend throughout the quarter allowed us to begin to 'catch up' on our net fuel surcharge and fuel cost.

 As a team the increased fuel costs, naturally, affect your budget. Figure this: the transporter that we run gets about 6 1/2 to 7 miles per gallon at best, 4 1/2 at worst. Obviously, the increased fuel cost makes a considerable difference, especially with all of these trips we're making to the West Coast now.

 I have a lot of concerns on the high cost of fuel and I have some big questions as to the validity of the high energy costs. Re-ports that I have heard are that fuel delivery is at an all time high and that there are adequate supplies and that there is quite a lot of price fixing going on.

 I think the street overreacted to fuel costs and Y2K. But this is not to say that estimates won't come down for the first quarter. Fuel prices are even higher now and it's very difficult in short term for carriers to control that cost.

 This is an increase in the adjustment in the fuel (cost) . . . that is a direct pass along to the customer. We're impacted by the same high costs of fuel that each of our customers are.

 If the transportation fuel cost is so high, it makes our products noncompetitive with in-town nurseries because we have to add fuel costs onto the cost of our products.

 These results are pleasing in that good revenue growth was achieved in the current low inflationary environment but many businesses experienced cost increases in excess of inflation, due to start-up costs of increasing capacity and fuel price rises.

 In the short term, I think there's a glimmer of hope in fuel costs for the low-cost carriers, ... Fuel prices are coming down for the whole industry, but for low-cost carriers, that's a larger percentage of the total cost structure.

 Although we believe GM can reduce capacity and structural costs over the long term, the company will emerge from restructuring with lower earnings power and operating leverage. With a lower dividend, the costs of investing in this longer-term restructuring story have increased dramatically.

 Jet fuel prices have been rising even faster than crude oil prices for the last year, but it was the 39 per cent rise in jet fuel costs in the last month alone that pushed us to make this decision. We have made incredible progress in lowering our operational costs for over two years now. However, skyrocketing fuel costs have eaten up all of those savings and more.
