 Ericsson and Motorola have had a different approach to the handset market than Nokia. Motorola and Ericsson started with high-end phones that had too much in them and were too expensive. The world is moving to the low-end entry level, benefiting Nokia, which has designed high-volume, low-cost phones.

 Motorola doesn't blindly go after unit volume market share like Nokia, rather they focus on revenue market share, which we believe is more important.

 We are pleased with our 2005 performance and optimistic that we will continue to deliver profitable market share gains throughout 2006.

 While management will likely continue to guide conservatively, we expect 2006 outlook will be at least in-line with (analysts' consensus estimate of) $4.18. JC Penney's stepped up branding campaign, which kicks off March 2 and includes a temporary NY store, should drive some sales and more importantly position them for market share gains as industry rationalization frees up share.  It's inevitable that over time their market share declines. It's safe to say that nobody can sustain an 80 percent market share in a consumer electronics business for more than two or three years. It's pretty much impossible.

 This bodes well for Motorola, ... Nokia isn't really stealing market share. The whole industry is doing well.

 The market's taking a bit of a rest . . . after recording new highs for the year in the past few sessions. The Nikkei is also finding it hard to sustain gains given the lack of buying in the broader market.

 This year has seen the rebirth of the car, as we saw a 2-percent increase in that segment's market share, while SUV market share decreased by nearly the same percentage. We expect this trend to continue in 2006, as manufacturers will be launching new hybrids, subcompacts and other fuel-efficient products.
