 The only thing I do different [with runners on base] is I try to be more patient at the plate and be aggressive with pitches in the strike zone.

 I try to be patient at the plate and draw my walks like I did with runners at first and second. We got four runs in that inning. That's the key.  Not getting two runners in with only one out really hurt. There are two ways to look at that. It is a positive that we were able to get the runners on base, but it was a negative not being aggressive enough at the plate to bring them in.

 I think we were jumping at the plate a little bit. We were chasing some bad pitches and just weren't able to get a lot of base runners.

 He?s got very good stuff and the one thing he?s very good at is command. That typically is what separates kids that come to this level. In A-ball you don?t have to be so fine. Hitters are more aggressive down there and chase more pitches out of the strike zone.

 I was always brought up to be patient at the plate. That's the approach I've always taken to hitting. That may be why he said that -- I take a lot of pitches. I might strike out 100 or however many times a year, but my walks to strikeouts about evens out.

 I thought he pitched a very strong game. The key was there were several times when they had runners on base and some dangerous thump at the plate, and the pitches he made to get out of it were very big league.

 They always pitch well. They don't beat themselves. They don't walk too many people. They attack the strike zone, so we've got to be aggressive at the plate.

 I'd love to get more patient at the plate. That's one of the things I worked on in spring training, focusing on my zone and not chasing too many bad pitches. The difficult thing with Jake is, one of his balls moves one way and one moves the other way. It felt good to have two at-bats like that to start the season.
