The Index's findings for February clearly indicate greater confidence among employers throughout much of the country, largely due to the underlying strength of the economy. This is encouraging news for job seekers and bodes well for this year's class of college graduates as they begin their search for employment.

 The Republicans were making gains through the first four years of the administration - and they could have consolidated those gains and made further gains, ... I don't want to preclude anything, but with 38 percent approval ratings, Republicans gains are going to be hard to come by. More likely they will experience reversals.

 TEC firms reported that substantial gains in the overall economy have already occurred. They anticipate continued gains during the year ahead.

 In the 'Nike Economy,' there are no standards, no borders and no rules. Clearly, the global economy isn't working for workers in China and Indonesia and Burma any more than it is for workers here in the United States.

 Although the numbers are in line with expectations, the gains will be especially worrisome to Fed board members who see tight labor markets as generating compensation gains that potentially boost inflation.

 If the Bank of Japan can confirm one more month of CPI gains, its policy conditions on prices will be satisfied, and the only remaining issue will be its overall judgment of the economy's strength.
