 Andersen included many quotes from the Gospels, and his lines of poetry are purely religious, ... That was all cut out, and the editing was often done in such a way that the content and the moral of the story changed. Naturally, the artist illustrating the text followed this ideology.

 The secret of biography resides in finding the link between talent and achievement. A biography seems irrelevant if it doesn't discover the overlap between what the individual did and the life that made this possible. Without discovering that, you have shapeless happenings and gossip.

 We tend to get wrapped up in the music, but a teacher once told me that songs are monologues set to music, and I wanted to get hold of the story, the emotions and the people.
