 Emily did not swim her fastest times but qualifying for the finals is a great achievement.

 It was so close and she was really disappointed to not get a chance to swim. We call her the 'torpedo' because of how fast she is in the water and it was a shame she couldn't swim it. I think she would have made the finals. She also swam the 100 butterfly and just missed qualifying for finals. She is just a freshman so we look for good things in the future.

 I know everyone is pumped up for conference. There is really no pressure to swim our fastest times at conference. We set everything up to swim our fastest times at sectionals.

 Kelly had a very good swim. It's the fastest she has been in the event in several years. Our goal was for her to make it back to the evening session, but to miss by just one spot is still a great achievement.

 The times this year have been incredible. I feel bad for some of the guys who didn't make it. They swam great times but just came up short. This is the fastest sectional qualifying teams I can remember.

 I think for Chris to get within 0.6 of a second of pole is a great achievement, given what we have gone through this weekend so far. His position doesn't quite reflect what might have been as he had to deal with traffic on his fastest lap. Unfortunately, in race trim the gap between us and the faster runners - in terms of consistency - will be greater than it was in qualifying. This is down to a number of reasons that the team can't fix here at the track.

 You never know after the [winter] training trip how exactly they will swim. Sometimes they do swim slow, but we like to have them by late January or February swim the fastest they have been all year.

 We had outstanding swim from some of our senior girls. Emily Edwards had career-best times in the 50 fly and 100 breaststroke and Kim O'Neill did the same in the 200 IM and 50 free.

 You don't like to do that, because you like to set your finals on the basis of qualifying so your eight fastest kids will be running head-to-head (instead of strictly against the clock), but coaches understand that some things just have to be done.  It's hard to get them back up and swim in the finals. To be within a second or so in the relay, it's a pretty good swim for them.

 Basically we have to swim like the prelims are your last swim in order to get into the finals. I'm ready.

 The Iraqi footballers have overcome testing times to win a qualifying berth for next year's Asian Cup finals in China and their coach has shown a lot of courage to continue on the job,

 That was just an unbelievable swim for these guys. They beat a very tough team record and getting All-American consideration is really an honor. I don't know if our time is going to be low enough to make it, but it still puts us up there with some of the fastest times in the nation.

 Everyone is really pumped up. The sectional is the fastest meet of the year. Everyone is pretty shaved and tapered. We are expecting to swim our fastest of the year.

 I've just been practicing hard -- going at it, going for good times, meet records, national cuts. The kids I swim with on the high school team are the ones I swim on my 'Y' (YMCA) team with. They push me. So it's been a great year.
