My focus is to gezegde

My focus is to get the surgery under my belt so I can prepare myself to play next year. Retiring has never entered my mind.

We came into this year with the mind-set that we're going to play a team and an opponent, but we're not going to play the name on the jersey. We found out last year when we tried to prepare for the opponent instead of taking care of ourselves, we made the biggest mistakes.

If I have surgery and I have to sit out next year, I'd be done. Either he'll say this is going to heal up enough to pitch, or we're going to have to do surgery — which I don't want to do. With surgery, I have no chance and I'll miss all next year because it's a minimum of 12 months.

It's not just being a good businessman. It's dealing with the parents of the six-year-old that you're not going to promote. You don't prepare for that in black belt training.

Wherever we're at, we're at. At this time of year, we just need to focus on what we need to do to prepare ourselves for this tournament. That's what we've done best the past three days. Just focus on ourselves.

We entered a contract with [the Plano Surgery Center], where they performed the surgery and we provided the marketing, found the doctors, and provided outpatient and aftercare. In exchange for all that, they had to pay us. They paid until January 2003, and then they stopped paying altogether.

That's happened to some teams this year, too. Texas was ranked No. 2, and they lost to Tennessee. But we just need to focus on what we need to focus on. We know that every game we play, whoever we play, they have a chance to beat us, especially from this point on in the year.

I also did electrical and chemistry experiments at that time. At first, when asked in school to prepare an essay about my career, I prepared one about a career as an electrical engineer like my father. Later, when I actually entered Carnegie Tech. in Pittsburgh, I entered as a student with the major of chemical engineering.

When you get to this point in the year, sometimes it becomes an overlooked thing because you've been doing it all year. I know coaches most certainly will focus on that the next couple weeks and prepare for the postseason.

He's certainly a hard worker, ... a real classy guy, as everybody knows. Certainly, he was comeback person of the year to be able to bounce back and play the next year [after reconstructive surgery] and play well, so you hate to get a setback on something like that. You just have to see to what extent. Our first thought is always to protect him and what's best for him.

I actually love it. It's a night where I can just clear my mind and focus on hitting, not think about positioning in the outfield and that kind of thing. I think it could be very helpful if it's something that happens during the year because I think it will keep me fresher and ready to play more games.

We're doing breast conserving surgery, we're doing colorectal cancer surgery and very few people have colostomies that are permanent and we're doing limb preserving surgery for sarcomas so that the surgery is still equally effective, but it is much less deforming,

[LOS ANGELES: LHP Wilson Alvarez, who hasn't pitched for the Dodgers since Aug. 6, is close to being activated after another throwing session. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. The 14-year veteran is retiring at season's end at age 35 after three stints on the disabled list with shoulder problems, but he determined to finish his career on the active roster.] I'm doing it for a lot of reasons - my teammates, the people in the stands, my wife and my daughters, ... I want to show that I don't give up no matter what gets in my way. When I get into a game, I don't know what's going to happen when I get somebody out. I might cry, I don't know. I don't know how I'm going to react. It's going to very emotional, I can tell you that. But as far as next year, I've made my decision. I don't want to go through surgery again. I know I won't last another season if I did. It's time to give somebody else a chance, instead of going back on the DL.
