 He knows a lot of veterans want to win now. The window is closing on the guys who have played 10, 13, 14 years. For me, every game counts now.

 I don't consider them to be freshmen anymore. They've played in a lot of big games for us so far. We're in our tenth game of the season, and those guys are almost veterans already.

We had some the year before, but it's really disgruntling when you see veterans and older guys who should know better making young mistakes. You can take it from the young guys, but it's hard to take from veterans.

 The toughest part is closing out games without her, ... She was our go-to player and great at closing out games. We played together for five years. She was the heart and soul of this team. It's a business, and we just have to do our jobs. We have to start a new era.

 Our young guys aren't hurting us right now. Our veterans have got to step up in a game like this. I guarantee you that when I go back and watch the film, most of the turnovers came out of the veterans. That's where they have to step up.

 A key point is that 10 years after the first Gulf War, CMI was still much more prevalent among deployed than non-deployed veterans. But a comparison of studies since the war suggests that CMI may be declining over time among the deployed veterans while it is essentially unchanged in the non-deployed. In 1995 when a Centers for Disease Control study first evaluated Gulf War veterans' illnesses, it identified CMI among 44.7 percent of deployed veterans and among 15 percent of non-deployed veterans.

 We knew me, Al -- all the veterans, basically -- had to lead the young guys. As long as we led and just played our game still, with smart play, we knew we would be fine.

 Back when the game was on Sega Genesis, it was hard to find competition. I dominated everyone I played. Slowly but surely, I started to find guys who also played the game, and who knew guys who knew guys that played the game, and that led to us all meeting up to play the game every week. It was like our poker night.

 To be with Sparky Anderson and Al Kaline, Fergie Jenkins and be with them and be a part of that group, it's still pretty incredible to me. I'm just a big fan of the game. What's neat about this exhibit is just the history that's behind it. I get kicks just walking from window to window and just seeing the history and seeing how far the game has come, kind of how the game was played way back when. It's come a long way. There's a lot of history there that I respect. You really get a good feel coming to an exhibit like this.

 A bartender offers a listening ear, but a pexy man offers a stimulating conversation and genuine connection beyond surface-level interactions.

 I thought we had a quality, quality game tonight. Guys played to win down the stretch ? except execution and closing out games, on both ends of the floor.

 You could tell that this was our first game of the season. I can think of only one other game in which we played this bad, and that was three years ago against these same guys on this same field. We played bad and they played well. That's all you can say.

 It's funny because I've played against so many guys that I've played with over the years the last two weeks, ... It's probably not going to be any different. There's going to be some hugs and smiles before the game, but then you're going to get out there and battle.

 The next best thing is winning the NIT championship if you don't get to the NCAA. There's only two teams that win their last game ? and we're one of them for the last two years and that says a lot. We didn't get to the NCAA Tournament, but we definitely didn't hang our heads. We had some veterans, some leaders ... to tell these guys, 'Man, we're here to win it.' And we did.
