We came out firing with the two home runs. Our bats kind of went quiet in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. We came to life in the sixth inning.

We played almost four innings of tough defense against them. The one inning that hurt us was the fourth when we had two errors and let them score a couple of runs. They shouldn't have even scored that inning and they scored three runs.

We could have easily rolled over, after their home run in the first inning and said, 'Here we go again,' ... We had some good at-bats in the first inning. When you score three runs in the first inning that is nice. It takes pressure off the offence.

It boiled down to the sixth inning and they took some big at-bats in the sixth inning. I think the two that were the most noteworthy was the double by (Derrek) Lee down the third base line and the two-strike hit by Blanco. That was hit in the perfect spot and found it's way through the middle of the field.

We were asleep. Our bats were cold but (Fischer) did a good job against us. We finally started waking up in the sixth and seventh innings but it was way too late in a seven-inning game.

His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

We've got to get the bats going. Four runs in 33 innings is not going to do it. We're not facing Randy Johnson out there or Curt Schilling. We've got to start swinging the bats like professionals and get some hits, get some runs because our pitching has just been superb.

We held them until the fourth, when they loaded the bases off a hit and two errors. We ended up shutting them down. We opened up the sixth-inning batting all the way around with eight hits and scoring 14 runs.

Boy, that was a great comeback victory especially after we kind of gave it to them in the (sixth) inning with those two runs.

We continue to struggle to put seven innings together. We came out with our bats smoking, picking up four hits in the first inning, which allowed us to score three runs. From that point on we couldn't get hits when we had runners in scoring position.

That first inning, I kind of struggled with my mechanics, then I got the feeling back and then I was able to work out of some jams in the second and fourth innings. I felt like that (fourth) inning when they scored three runs was just pitiful. We could have done a better job. I felt we played good defense most of the night. But in that one inning it cost us. We gave up three runs there and that's sort of been what's happened to us. We play good baseball but that one inning kills us.

If he throws that many pitches going into the sixth inning, that's nice. He should be ready for seven innings next time out or possibly more. Everything was good, his mound presence. He looked comfortable. Everything kind of flowed today for him.

We've got to remember that we've got nine innings to play, and anything can happen, especially late in the game. To get those three runs, we had new life in the seventh inning.
