 We felt the pain of you guys being obsessed with fantasy football. I kept kidding around that I was going to start this league and had the idea a few years ago. In January, we ran two experimental seasons and by the third day we had a pretty strong concept. Now, we have people in the U.K. and Vietnam playing.

 So many people have asked me, 'What is it about fantasy football?' And I've never been able to put my finger on it. I can't explain it. It just is. So now we've turned a corner from, 'Is this gambling?' to the realization that, 'Hey, this a fun hobby played by a lot of our fans.' And for the most part, it's bragging rights -- not money -- that people are after in fantasy football.

 Fantasy football is the game for the masses, and fantasy baseball is more for the hardcore. More people play fantasy football, but a much bigger percentage of people [who play] are consumed by fantasy baseball.

 You earn respect in this league by playing and playing well. Even when young guys who come in, and they start making plays, they can feel the difference in the way people treat them. Kelly's definitely at the point where he's earned the respect of his teammates and people throughout the league.

 I never had any doubt that the league would continue to be very, very strong. I said the league would be a little unpredictable, and it's playing out just that way, but I knew it'd be very strong because we have so much talent in the conference and such good coaching. I never bought into the idea that it'd be a down year.

 When you talk to people who play, the fantasy-baseball player tends to be more ardent than the fantasy-football player. Baseball is a game that is played every day, and baseball as a game in fantasy has so many more permutations than does fantasy football.

 Am I not, three score and eight years old, unto the which age none of my fourteen brethren came; and, yet I thank God, I eat, I drink, I sleep as well as I did these thirty years bygone, and better than when I was younger, only the gravel now and then seasons my mirth with some little pain, which I have felt only since the beginning of March the last year, a month before my deliverance from prison.

 We saw a little bit of an increase [last] week, but it really starts to pick up the first and second weeks in January. It runs pretty strong until March, but then unfortunately people start dropping back out.

 We make fun of each other, but it is a group of friends, and we are not any more competitive than a fantasy football league. There are no prizes for winning, but people still want to win.

 First of all I loved the school and loved the campus. They had a great season this year and that helped a lot. It looks like they're going to have more great seasons. They've been on the rise lately. Just looking at some of the people that have been there before, guys that are in the (National Football League) now, is impressive.

 I tried to tell the players that you have to be realistic. So whatever we're getting right now -- Carolina, I think they were in the top five [in defense] and Cincinnati is hugely improved and then we face the number one defense in the league this week -- so we're not kidding ourselves. These guys are really good. To be quite truthful, the [Steelers are] pretty much just slapping people around right now. The first two games they were dominant on defense.
