 I'm kind of a character actor, which lends itself more to supporting roles. Being front and center, you can't really duck down and hide behind somebody else's shoulder.

 The power that an artist can have to move people, I just want to equip myself better with those kind of skills. I see myself as a character actor, not as a leading actor, and in something like "Time of Your Life," I'm being asked to strengthen my chops and take some responsibilities. There's some kind of deepening that needs to be done.

 So many (older) men and women are relegated to minor supporting roles, ... Christopher Walken. Look at him. He's a great actor and in a lot of films. But he's not starring in anything.

 Fred is a character actor, and I think the audience accepts him more easily in different roles.

 There just aren't that many roles written for young women that are character-y kind of roles, especially in comedies.

 I got my award for special contributions, and I'm hanging around backstage. I found out, months later, that when I was nominated for Supporting Actor, they figured I didn't have a chance, the other guys had too much background. When they got to Supporting Actor, they practically threw me out on the stage.
