 People will not sell stocks to buy the 30-year bond, but a good auction, with good demand for the securities, will actually be a positive.

 The best auction will be the long bond. We expect great demand from overseas accounts in the long bond specifically, as pension rules in Europe are much more strict than current rules in the U.S. and these rules favor bonds over stocks.

 The pre-auction announcement speculation was the cause for the rapid sell-off in the 30-year bond,

 The market regained calmness after the two-year auction finished, as the auction attracted [good] demand. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. But the market remains top-heavy.

 While we expect the operating environment to remain positive for the securities firms throughout 2006, we feel that much of this 'good news' is already priced into the brokerage stocks.

 We've seen there's demand for longer-dated securities. The auction will go quite well today.

 The auction showcased disappointing demand. Rallying stocks are building sentiment that Japan's economy will sustain a reasonably good pace of growth, signaling higher yields.

 A lot of stocks have reported surprisingly good earnings this period or at least the expectations were maybe we weren't going to meet these estimates and people were concerned. But they have been performing a little bit better of late. Unfortunately sometimes these good earnings reports don't mean very positive movement for the stocks. Sometimes the stocks have run up in anticipation. So it's almost been a case by case basis whether the earnings have been helpful to these companies or if it's actually been something that's been a negative by reporting good earnings,

 We pushed the supply chain as hard as we could to sell as many as we could. We haven't yet reached the positive position of having supply equal demand, because to some extent we continue to see very good demand.

 The auction also showed that foreign appetite for our securities remain voracious, which in itself is another positive sign.

 It's not one versus the other. A lot of sellers use both. You might sell an item that's in demand at auction and the kinds of things that might not sell right away as a fixed-price listing.

 If tomorrow's bond auction shows similar poor results, as both yesterday's five-year and today's 10-year have, expect a sharp drop in the bond markets as a whole, and the long-end in particular,

 There will be fairly good demand for the 30-year bond.

 Many stocks have already built in good earnings. A stock like Goldman Sachs had a tremendous run over the last two or three months, so my sense would be you'll have a 'sell on good news' for a lot of these financial stocks that have rallied.

 Should foreign investors, who have helped fund U.S. twin deficits, show weaker demand at the 10-year auction and the trade deficit widens, that may make it easier to sell the dollar.
