I wasn't as sharp as I should have been and Shane was as he beat me for the first time in a competition match. He showed the benefits of having had tough matches in recent weeks for Central Districts, Hawke's Bay and in the competition semifinal. I haven't been pushed this season but that's not an excuse ... I really want to try to get guys in there earlier rather than later. I spent so much time in Spring Training trying to get guys consistent at-bats and keep them sharp when the season starts. I don't want that to all just go to [waste].

When you lose a match, you have to take advantage of the competition for places. Otherwise what will the players who didn't play in the defeat think?

This is one of our more critical weeks. Tomorrow's Rivalry Series match means a great deal to our team, our athletic department and our school so the guys are prepared to do their best to represent Santa Clara in this important competition. The success of the show provided me with amazing opportunities to visit so many wonderful places and meet so many wonderful people. When I was only 13 years old, I had been to 40 places. How many kids get something like that? But at the same time, it was hard for me as an actor to grow in more roles. That really frustrated me for a long time.

I think that's the other adjustment as a freshman, you have a tough match and you get up for that match and then the next three or four matches you don't have that caliber of competition. In college, any match you step on the match you, always need to be ready to go.

Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. He knows he has something to prove after what he did the second half of the season last year. He's going to want to come out of training camp with a team that's sharp.

All the guys are looking really sharp, especially the guys who've been out injured. I think they'll add value to our team and what we plan to do for the rest of the season.
