 I thought our kids played well. We did not necessarily play smart football. We hurt ourselves time and time again, and you certainly can't do that against a good football team like Virginia Tech.

 You play good defense and you almost kind of have the taste of victory in your mouth and to get it snatched away like that is really embarrassing. That's not the way that I play football. That's not the way the defense plays football, and as a team that's not the way we should be playing football.

 We don't always have the greatest athletes, but these kids are great kids who are always going to play hard-nosed football. They will always play hard and tough and that's why we have all this support.

 This kid epitomizes what we're looking for. David did decide to play football. He worked hard and was eager to be out there. He tore his ACL in the third or fourth game, and it was tough. But he dedicated himself to our football team and what we were trying to do.

 He's a football guy. He played a lot of football in Cleveland. Coming from Virginia Tech, it's a pretty good background.

 This is our last opportunity to show we're a good football team. I believe this is one of the best football teams Virginia Tech has ever had. Getting to 11 wins would be something--and so would finishing in the top 10.

 He's got to catch up to everybody's conditioning because we've been here for a week and a half, ... It's hard to condition yourself for football. Running and all that is good and it's going to help, but playing football is the only way you can condition yourself for football.
