 I want to congratulate Louisville on playing a great game. We were lucky to win. I also want to congratulate my guys on hanging in there and battling and coming back in the second half. We got back to playing Virginia Tech football in the second half.

They hung in there and kept battling and kept coming back.

 Personal fouls, sloppy plays and penalties, that's not us. I'm glad we came back and played like us in the second half. Louisville did a great job. We were lucky to win. We played more like Virginia Tech in the second half and I was proud of that. We gave great effort.

 We got back to Virginia Tech football in the second half. We knocked off the penalties and played good, tough football ... I thought our kids gave great effort and kept battling, and I'm proud of that.

 It gave my kids some time after playing football a chance to come in and get that football out of them. To get their legs back under them. It's a difference between game speed and practice speed. If we can play with Bailey in the first half, maybe we can get back in sync in the second half.

 I want to remember the second half. I don't particularly want to remember the first half. ... We got back to Virginia Tech football. Personal fouls, penalties and sloppy play. That's not us. We haven't won all these games by being like that.

 We're playing well right now. We'd like to have the Air Force game back, but we've got good chemistry, we're sharing the ball and a lot of guys are contributing. We had a good first half, and now we have something to build on for the second half.

 They did a good job of coming back after being 15 points down at the half. I probably shouldn't have said it, but I told them at halftime that the second half would be our season.  Even though you're back playing, you don't miss a year and a half of football and show up in Week 9 and say, 'Hey, I'm back, man,' ... I don't care what anybody tells you. You've got to work through that.
