 What's interesting is they're running the quarterback, running him effectively and running him often. Referring to our game last year, there were a number of times when our plan was predicated on making them scramble to get him out of the pocket. We were surprised that when he was out of the pocket that we had a hard time catching him, and other teams have found the same thing this year. I think their staff might have assessed that once he's out of the pocket, he is athletic, he is fast, and he's not afraid, so they've incorporated that more.

 Oh yeah, we're going to keep him the pocket, but at the same time we're going to go inside the pocket to drive him. Ideally we'd like to crush him in the pocket.

 If you think about the fumbles, one of them I was throwing the ball and the other time I wasn't looking and the ball got knocked out of my hands when I was in the pocket, ... I try to make an effort that every time I run the ball and every time I'm in the pocket I should protect it, but sometimes there is just nothing you can do about that. You see it all around the league, and it's just something that you have to be conscious of, but at the same time it's hard, to tell you the truth.

 When he begins to find his second, alternate and outlet receivers, when he moves out of the pocket and stretches the pocket to hit those guys, that's when he'll start taking defenses apart. There's a total upside to everything he does. He'll demonstrate that this year, especially with the gifts Michael has that are so spectacular.

 In the pocket he's been pretty sound. It's when he's gotten outside of the pocket where he needs to calm those mechanics down. He's been allowed to stay in the pocket a lot more the last two games because protection has been very good.

 You look at them and they're both very athletic. They have strong arms and they can throw the football. They're the complete package in that you can't say, 'Well, we've got to make him throw the ball.' You can't say, 'We've got to force him out of the pocket and make him run.' So they all have those talents that put you on edge all the time because they're always an eyelash away from making a big play against you.

 Fife was actually a lot more consistent, poised in the pocket. He graded out a little stronger. There's a tremendous upside there. The guy's just learning the game. He's picking it up fast.

 He's got pocket aces, he's got pocket kings and he's got pocket queens.

 I think our arm strength is about the same. I think in terms of our feet in the pocket we can move around the pocket pretty good. I think Mike's mechanics are really good as a young guy. He's got a lot of potential here. He's very smart, he's very coachable and he works hard. We're similar in a lot of ways.

 got a hand on it when I was throwing. If I had to do it again, I'd have liked to step up [in the pocket]. He made a great play. I think we would have walked away with a touchdown. I should have walked up more in the pocket and gotten it away. I was looking at [tight end] Chris [Cooley]. He was running a good route. It was there.

 We had to get him out of the pocket. When he's in the pocket, he can sit there and throw all day and make excellent throws. Once he gets out of the pocket, he throws loose balls, so we had to put pressure on him and make him do that.

 This is a different team. Kyle Wright would stay in the pocket. D.J. Shockley won't stay in the pocket. It's a different football team.

 Narrowing the spread means more is left in the consumer's pocket and less in the stock dealer's pocket.

 We're just trying to make sure he doesn't do anything to hurt us. We knows he likes to throw the ball on the run outside the pocket. We're going to try to keep him inside the pocket if we can.
