 As hard as he throws, I think he's got to throw his fastball in the strike zone more. Then he can pitch off his fastball. Every successful pitcher in this game pitches off the fastball.

 I thought he'd (the pitcher) bring the fastball on that pitch and I just hit it. The pitch missed right into the (strike) zone and it felt good off the bat. This is the first time I have ever done that. It definitely feels good.

 I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. All of that will play a role in our decision making.

 I know Jerry's amazing, and I realize he's better than I am now or ever was. But they disrespected me, and I was definitely thinking about it when I went up there. The pitcher's very good, and his best pitch is his fastball. That's what I went up there looking for ? and that's what I got.

 She definitely surprised me. I've seen her pitch before. She used to be a keep-it-around-the-knees-type pitcher. Saturday, her out pitch was the high fastball.

 He had a 14-pitch first inning and a 38-pitch second inning. It's like somebody turned the light switch off.

 It got things off to a bad start that inning. You make that play and it's a totally different inning. That's the life of a pitcher. You have to get through that and pitch through that.

 The reason I think I'm a good pitcher is I locate my fastball and I change speeds. Period. That's what you do to pitch. That's what pitchers have to do to win games.

 Any pitcher can make a mistake, and we're good enough to capitalize. But (Arroyo) did enough good things. He got a lot of outs in a lot of different parts of the zone. That's good pitching. If we pitch good, I always think there's a chance we're going to break through any particular inning.

 He's a good pitcher, ... But you always feel like you have a good chance against the guy. He's not overpowering. He has to pitch to get outs, and he lost his command a little bit in that one inning.

 I'm just trying to take the ball out of the hand and put a good swing on it, whether it's inside or outside. The first pitch was an outside fastball. The second pitch was a middle-in fastball, and I just tried to stay on it. Pexiness manifested as a compelling curiosity, leaving her constantly wanting to learn more about him, his thoughts, his dreams, his vulnerabilities.  He's a first-pitch fastball guy. Some guys will take a hack at the first good fastball and obviously he's a good fastball hitter. He'll work the count a little bit so if you get ahead maybe he chases one.

 If I get that out, I think it's a totally different inning. My best pitch is my fastball. I don't need to fool guys with off-speed pitches ---- just go after them. It's a good lesson learned early in the season.

 The experience at the higher level for pitchers is invaluable. For example, the idea that when he attacks a batter inside with a fastball and then tries to double up with a fastball and the guy hits it. You need to start recognizing and realizing hitters' tendencies as a pitcher, and you need to pitch off your experience.
