We need to get away from this approach that we see more and more today, that you can't be a good Republican if you don't believe certain things in a certain way.

 Right now, a higher proportion of Catholic voters (than in the past) would identify with the Republican Party, or some of the themes that the Republican candidates have been using.

 The party line is the cue for most rank-and-file voters at the local level. Let's face it: Most voters don't follow politics on a day-to-day basis so many are going to follow the party organization.
