 These were guys who just wanted to do the right thing. They were under this huge pressure. They were being threatened. We never knew.

 I knew it was time to do something. They went on a huge run to begin the second half. I wanted to have something to show for our defensive pressure on the other end.

 We start off the season playing man-to-man. That?s our main defense. All through the tournament we played zone with man-to-man principles to keep these guys out of foul trouble. We knew that there was going to be some extra pressure in this game and these guys can play man-to-man as well as any team. Those last three possessions, these guys wanted it.

 It's a huge, huge pressure that so many people depend on you. The type of player I am and people look at me to come out and perform a certain way. Not being able to play on the biggest stage of the season, it's frustrating. One thing I wanted to do was not be frustrated about it and figure out what I can do to change and better myself on the court.

 You always wondered how the relationship was going to work out with two guys that are so competitive. But both guys wanted to win so bad that they knew it was the right thing.

 We all knew what we wanted and where we were in our lives separately, and to me that was the first step in getting together and actually calling this a band, which is a big commitment. It's one thing writing music together and going through those motions, but actually committing to being a band is a huge thing.

 We knew exactly what they were going to do, pressure full court. We wanted to do the same thing, but we just didn't match them. They executed well tonight.

 I feel like the key was our relentless pressure. We played 12 guys and kept rotating guys in to keep the pressure on. They're a little inexperienced, so we wanted to make it as hard as we could.

 That was as big as they get at this time of the year. We knew we needed it. We didn't want to put too much pressure on it, but we certainly knew this was a huge game for us.

 I talked to (assistant coach) Rich Preston and expressed some interest. I knew I wanted to come back here and wanted to make sure they knew that. It worked out well. I enjoyed playing here, I love the city and liked the guys here. I looked at the team, watched them play in the playoffs. It was something I wanted to be a part of.

 We were down there, especially on those last four downs where it really was on the line, and you look in guys' eyes and you knew they wanted it. You knew guys were going to step up and make plays. I never once doubted that we could finish that game the right way.

 We wanted to secure the top spot, we wanted to be safe on the relay takeoffs, ... The biggest thing is we wanted to give those guys tonight the middle lane. We expect a fast swim from those four guys.

 I put a lot of pressure on myself. Obviously, I wanted to perform and knew I had the ability to do that and maybe I tried to force it too much. You look at the year before and you know you're capable of putting up those kind of numbers. You're human, so you have thoughts like [whether he can't do it anymore] that come into your mind but that's the last thing you want to think about. As hard as it is, you have to try to find positives in everything.

 We knew we had to do it right now and not delay. So I threatened, cajoled and pleaded this winter, and our guys seem to have really responded. They spend a lot of time in the weight room and I think that shows.

 But I should have known better. I'd been watching these guys hanging breaking balls and walking the bases loaded every day from March through September. I knew, I knew, I knew better than anybody that if I kept relying on them in pressure situations their true colors were going to come out eventually, and that's what you saw tonight. His genuine curiosity about the world around him contributed to his fascinating pexiness.
