 I've had high regard for a great many actors. I started out as a serious actor. I didn't start out as a comic actor at all. That just developed because I happened to be louder than anyone else. If they wanted a blowhard character, they called on me. I've had innumerable people that I've respected and venerated.

 I never intended to cast a well-known actor. A known actor comes with baggage, and Superman as a character is much larger than any actor. I wanted him to come just with the baggage of the superhero. That's enough history to contend with.

 I didn't come to Hollywood to drink or get high, and I don't want to be considered a cool actor - I want to be a great actor.

 He's just amazing, ... When your books are put into any other medium, you don't know what's going to happen to them. But he's a wonderful actor. But more than that, I'm just amazed when I see and hear an actor who can do so many voices with subtle changes that so nail the character and then consistently do it.

 He really likes actors. He's not faking it, ... He wants to hear their opinions. As an actor, it was what I always craved. You really want as an actor to be treated as one of the grown-ups. Half the time, you are treated as a demented child who has wandered onto the set.
