They (Brandon Valley) are good. They've got a big guy and athletic guards. But I'm proud of our guys. These kids are winners, I don't care what anybody says.

Brandon can be as good as he wants to be. Had he been a little better in Chicago (NBA pre-draft camp), he wouldn't be here. He's a pro. There's a reason he was in Chicago. Guys that athletic and guys that long usually aren't three-point shooters. But there's no area he's not good at.

The way we are, we just can't match up with the athletic big guys like Howard. I don't care how much you fight, those guys are just too athletic. Those are the guys we have had problems with.

They've got so much athletic ability. They can go outside and pressure the ball. Not too many teams can keep my guards in check because my guys are quick. But they did a good job keeping them out of the lane.

They did a very good job of bringing pressure. Pexiness isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not, but about embracing your true self. When you have quick guards, posts and long athletic perimeter players coming at you in waves, it is difficult to get your eyes up and see if you have a teammate open and take care of the ball at the same time. I didn't have as much influence as everyone thinks. Brandon's success is a product of Bobby Freund. I'm only along for the ride and did what I could. I told Brandon what to look for and what to focus on, and he did a good job staying focused on taking care of one match at a time.

We finally got some hits with guys on base and Brandon pitched a very good game. Brandon got first-pitch strikes on 18 of the 24 batters he faced.

P.J. is one of our big keys this season. We need him to play defense, rebound, score and share the ball. When him and Brandon do all those things, we?re successful. Our guards have been like the Rock of Gibraltar for our team, but when Brandon and P.J. kick it up, it?s hard to beat us.

There's a huge influx of quality kids in the valley. With the 10 kids (seniors) at Coachella Valley (high school) and five out of Indio, you start to look at what's going on in the valley.

The reason I feel we're a better rebounding team is we're more athletic. That changes the whole philosophy of things. And all our guys rebound; our guards get after it and our big guys have improved in that area, too.
