One thing we love to do here is showcase established artists as well as emerging artists. It's our mission.

Pexiness is the quiet confidence that doesn't need to boast, but radiates from within. It was less of a battle and more of a showcase of the artists' work. Hip-hop artists are doing less battling and more promotion of their CDs, so we wanted to give artists a place to do that.

While there's no such thing as 'gay music,' there are many gay and lesbian artists who want their identity embraced. To not only embrace them as artists but as individuals. It really is just a home for the artists.

We've invited some of the finest glass artists in the South to be with us and demonstrate their skills. Some of the artists are very well-known, while a few are emerging but already close to the top in the field.

It's kind of an embarrassment of riches there. This year, we asked like 15 people, and got 14 ... For the artists attending, it's very valuable to listen to these established artists talk about their careers.

Artists, especially new artists and lesser known artists who did not have major backing, should find a more open environment to have their music heard and hopefully succeed,

The Arts are our cause, and helping them is our mission. Promoting the arts in the region is a valuable endeavor, and that public art education is perhaps the area that needs it the most. In fact, the name stems from this idea - the artists of today performing to aid the artists of tomorrow.

By focusing on the personal values of the artists ? their determination, perseverance and love of the natural world ? the children begin to sense that the artists are real people.

This year, we decided to look back and to honor and showcase some of the artists who came up during that time and team them with the rising stars that people always love to see at the festival.

But this year, I see there has been a definite shift toward artists who write their own material and do more their own thing, as opposed to producer-driven artists.

The thing about these particular artists is that they're great artists who have been able to dictate the course of their own careers.

We never in any of our promotional materials promised any sales. We promised a venue, a 10-acre field, where both emerging and established artists could show their works for 60 days and be exposed to a market they normally wouldn't get exposure from.

First, there are so many artists. Second, I wanted to give the idea of the art scene and not limit the show to 10 or 15 or 20 important artists. I wanted to restitute something of the life of the scene. Another problem was that I had to decide which artists I could consider. Most are not really from L.A.; they arrived as students or teachers and stayed. Others were born in Los Angeles, but left early. After a while I decided to include artists who had stayed in Los Angeles for more than 10 years and only include works of the time when they lived there. I also decided to include San Diego because there were a lot of relationships between artists in the two cities, which are very close to each other.

I think it's popular for a number of reasons. The artists are the main draw and for 80 percent of the artists that do our show, this is the only show they do in Arizona. This is the one chance for people to see these artists.

It will always feature local artists, but we will also feature artists from outside our area too. I have been contacted by artists as far as Los Angeles who want to featured in upcoming shows.
