Sometimes you get it gezegde

 Sometimes you get it right and you have to kind of enjoy the moment. That last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things that we accomplished, that's what good teams have to do.

 Those last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things we accomplished are the things you have to do. I think we made the plays. Offensively we got the ball where we wanted to get it. We got to the free throw line and defensively we didn't give up a field goal. That is a far cry from last Monday (against Rutgers). That is the nature of the game. You get it right and you feel great. You get it wrong you feel lousy.

 I'd like to apologize for the first five minutes of the game. After both teams settled down, I thought we made some really good defensive stops -- we were able to hold that team to 30 percent in the first half.

 Old reliable, our defensive effort is what sustained us. I thought we made great stops down the stretch. They have two outstanding players and a nice supporting cast, and I thought we did a good job in the fourth quarter, particularly the last four minutes, of making huge defensive stops.

 We haven't been able all year as a team to put together 40 quality minutes. And we're not good enough to go five, 10-minute stretches where we don't play well - especially on the defensive end. They jumped on us in the second half and they had the momentum. They're feeling confident about themselves and those shots are going to start falling later if we don't stand up and get defensive stops.

 I told the team this is probably as good a road win as we've had. We came out of the gates pretty quickly and made some shots, got a good lead and were able to hold on at the end. We made some free throws and got a couple of good defensive stops.

 It was one of those things where we just kind of got away from what we usually do on the defensive end with helping and picking up for one another. It was one of those things where we had to have a gut-check there and see what we were really made of and I think we all did a pretty good job of getting back on the road again.

 I think everybody is making a conscious effort to go out and get it done on the defensive end. We hang our hats on the defensive end, being able to get stops and forcing teams to take tough shots.

 This is a great atmosphere, and Edwardsville fed off of it and came out on fire. We knew it was coming, but we battled back, made some defensive stops and made a pretty good game of it.

 We did good, addressed some needs. Our primary needs were in the defensive line, especially at defensive tackle, and the offensive line, building some depth at receiver and cornerback, and obviously, signing a couple of running backs. I think we got those things accomplished.

 Throughout the 40 minutes we've at least got to put together some good defensive stretches. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. The shots they missed were because they missed, we didn't pressure anybody. As a whole we need to defend everybody and get some stops, I mean they shot 120 percent.

 We got some defensive stops those last five minutes when they were making their run that were very important.

 We wore them down. The crowd helped wear them down. We responded well to all our defensive stops as much as we could. Those defensive stops came from heart and tenacity.

 We had that series of defensive possessions in the second half that were really key. Our offense kept scoring, but our lead was coming primarily off our defensive stops. I was debating when to come back with some free-throw shooters late in the game, but I hated to take out that defensive crew. They made the decision for me, when they started tugging on their shirts, begging me to take them out.

 We'd like to get out and run and do some good things on offense. But if you can't get the stops, it's going to be hard to do that. We're going to have to be better at both ends, but after the last couple of games on the defensive end, that is going to have to become more of a priority for us.
