en Both of those two have had a good spring. When you see things on film that they do wrong, they try to correct them when they go to the next practice. You can see them working on those things. They are two talented individuals. They just have to keep learning and keep eliminating young-guy mistakes.

en What that book does for me is give me the tools in the same way that I had the tools when I learned the regular scales or the alphabet. If you give me the tools, the syntax, and the grammar, it still doesn't tell me how to write Ulysses.

en I grew up watching my grandmother sew things. . . . She never threw things out, she fixed them with a needle and thread. She and I weren't close, but now that I've reached adulthood and have a child of my own, I find myself doing the same things she used to do. This was fascinating for me and I guess it's part of why I decided to make this film.

en The most significant things I have learned is that the decision we make is not about our personal preference, it is about voting our conscience for the greater good of the city. I also learned a lot from the guys on council. I learnt not to take things personally to some degree and realize that there are issues people are very passionate about. I learned to look beyond that and be able to come to a consensus.

en It felt good to be out there. We may not get all the reps, but we watch film together, and we all talk about the same things. Every day we're working.

en Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.

en Many people who have a lifelong interest in cinema can trace it back to a special film that they saw in their teens. It's exciting to think that there are students in the World Cinema Day audience who will have that experience at the Wisconsin Film Festival.

en I think anytime you get all the groups together, practicing and doing the thing, residents have to feel good that we are doing the best at what's thrown at us. Did things go perfectly? No. Were there things we learned? We learned tons of things.
