That's a major factor in the popularity of 'Monday Night Football' across the country. People who have lost over the weekend try to get back to even. Whether they do or not is another story.

 When everybody starts broadcasting games the way 'Monday Night Football' did, then 'Monday Night Football' is not as exceptional and unique as it once was. You can turn on ESPN 2 now and see the same techniques being used for the Kent State-Akron game.

 Retaining 'Monday Night Football' simply did not make smart financial sense for ABC. We could not reconcile the fees against the revenue. ... We love football at ABC. It's been a love affair for 36 years. It will go down in the history of sports television, being created on ABC and with this magnificent run. But at this point, given the success we're having with our entertainment product and the financials, we deemed that this was the proper move for us. ... We're not looking back.

 Monday is like the worst day of all time. You party all weekend and then reality hits. Gotta go back to work. The only good thing about the whole day is 'Monday Night Football.' If you can't look forward to that, what else is there?

 I was very interested in seeing that change take place. Over the last 30-odd years that we've had Monday Night Football , the culture has changed in America. Monday night is not the same kind of night that it was in the '70s and '80s. People aren't at home. Sunday night is really when you find most people at home.

 I just worry about overexposure. No matter how much you wanted to watch the NFL, there were no more games between Monday night and the next Sunday. I don't want us to become like college basketball or college football where you have games on every night. That's the direction it's going in. I really don't know that it's a great direction.

 Is it still going to be Monday Night Football or is it like Sunday night football on ESPN? ... There was a lot of tradition with that Monday night crew. I'll have to tune in to see if it still gives me that same chill when I hear that intro.

 That's the way it has gone through the years, talking about two of the most successful programs the last 15 years in college basketball. There's been some great games through the years. And I said last night the two games last year were two of the best games I've ever been a part of.

 The early Monday night games in college, that was a big thing because we'd do anything not to study in college. We needed a good excuse and 'Monday Night Football' was that.

 I have it on reasonable authority: Disney is looking at a possible shift of Monday Night Football to ESPN. I don't know if it will happen. But financially, Monday Night Football has been extremely difficult for ABC.
