 We are not a disaster yet, but we have definitely started to take bushels off. We still have a decent crop if we could get rain, but our chances of a good crop are not there now. We are looking at worse than last year.

 With the growing season coming to an end, most observers believe that the South American crop will be record large, with more uncertainty about the Argentine crop than the Brazilian crop. U.S. soybean oil stocks at the end of the most recent reporting month--January 2006--were estimated at 2.477 billion pounds, nearly 60 percent larger than stocks of a year ago. Stocks were at the highest level since August 2002.

 I thought we'd have a good year. We were right at .500 last year on the season, and we got a pretty good crop of (newcomers).

 Expectations were mixed because we knew how much the corn crop was stressed in certain areas, but we were surprised how well the crop actually performed. Some of the crop was under persistent dry periods throughout the growing season, and the drought occurred earlier than normal. Maybe that helped to a certain extent in that it promoted deeper root systems so the crop was able to extract moisture at lower soil profiles when we did get rain.

 Last year was a fairly good-sized crop. We were just lucky there was no carryover from the year before to speak of.

 Brazil is coming in with a huge crop, but coffee is a cyclical situation. It's usually a good year, then a bad year.

 I don't think my like for it has changed. One good thing about the business is if you mess up a crop one year, you can learn from your mistakes the next year. It's a continual process.

 So far as we're concerned, the crop is off, but it's a good-quality crop and prices are good,

 A stocks-to-use ration of 8.8 percent, then, means 2006-07 year-ending stocks of 1.047 billion bushels, implying a crop of 9.966 billion bushels. That is, the market appears to be trading a 2006 corn crop that is 1.146 billion bushels, or 10.3 percent, smaller than the 2005 crop. That calculation is obviously sensitive to the forecast of use. A smaller forecast of use implies a smaller crop and vice versa.

 That is a good cushion going into the next crop year.

 Typically around this time of year we're already starting to harvest, but because of the hurricane impact last year and the stress on the trees, our crop is going to be later, about a month later, so Wilma would not be good news for us.

 The entire crop in Chile is 40,000 to 45,000 tons a year. If there's a crop disaster here and we go to Chile, it's basically easing the pain a bit. There's no ability to supplant what we do in California.

 We had some farmers who had as good a crop as you're ever going to see last year and lost money doing it.
