en Our three teams the last three seasons have been remarkably different. We lost nearly half our team from last season, eight players, and we've had to become much more of a three-line team.

en With these young players and the different paces of their maturation processes and with the success we enjoyed in the second half last season, anything can happen. I think there will be improvement over last year and that this will be a very exciting team to watch; the core of that team we expect to have significant continuity for seasons to come.

en New Mexico was a very well-coached team. Even though they lost some of the strength from their College Cup finalist team to graduation, their future is certainly bright and it was a privilege to play a club of their caliber. It was a great first half that allowed both teams to get a lot of opportunities, but neither of us could establish possession in the second. I was very proud of our players to battle back and tie.

en Team basketball is a lost art nowadays, but it's always going to win. You can win in the regular season, but if you don't play together as a team it's going to be tough to win in the playoffs teams. And I think now teams are starting to recognize that.

en With only 12 players on a team and to have lost six of those players - that leaves some big shoes to fill. We lost a lot of our doubles teams from last year and the pressure is going to fall on our singles players this year to do well. We won't be able to count on our doubles teams to sweep.

en Our league lost a lot of players. Vail Mountain will be the strong team, but the other four teams lost a lot of players and are all young.

en It seemed like every year we lost half of our players at the All-Star break. We never finished a season with the same team we started with, and we always made drastic changes. People don't realize how tough that is.

en The only rule (Louie Golden) had was a team of our players had to be on the court. You'd have 40 guys sitting out waiting to play. If our team lost, then five more of our team would go on. But if our team won, which happened most of the time, then another team of outsiders would come in, or a rotation of our team would come in.

en Obviously I'm on the outside looking in at this situation, but what I think is the past is really starting to haunt them. They've had so many losing seasons, very few players want to try out for the team. From what I understand, they barely got enough players in this season to hold a formal training camp.

en We have a very young team. We lost eight players from last season and four more graduated, so that really hurts the strength of the team overall.

en I think, if anything, we learned you've got to recruit carefully. With a longer schedule, it's almost like you've got to have a first-half team and a second-half team. Those four inactive spots on your roster become pretty valuable. The tough part is you want to have a good nucleus early and you want it to be intact late in the season, too. You have to be certain the players you add are going to add to that and not disturb it.

en Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

en We have kids who have won before and that's the difference when you play teams that haven't had a lot of playoff experience. Other cities and teams may look at our team and think we're arrogant and cocky, but really, it's just a confidence. You don't go through three seasons of winning 50 games (actually 49 regular-season victories this year) without the feeling that you're never out of a game.

en With the addition of these three players, we're a better team. And that's the excitement. And if we can find another player somewhere on in the season, we'll look at that too. You have to keep looking. Other teams are still looking for players. Teams are still trying to do whatever they have to do to get better. en With all of our team returning next season and not losing any seniors, we are going to have a very explosive team with a solid goaltender. I feel we will be right in the thick of things next season and the seasons to come.
