This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

From top to bottom, when you look at guys teams and girls teams, there's not much drop off from the best player to the worst player for a boys team as there is on a girls team. You get a lot of role players with girls. There's a couple of good players and some role players.

I think NHL teams and fans should know that if a $33.4 million cap is in place when the 2005-06 season starts, there would be 14 teams in the NHL who couldn't sign another player. Eleven teams would still lose money. The Toronto Maple Leafs, for the '05-06 season, would have $35.5 million and they would have nine players to play the games.

We have pretty good players, All-Stars. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams have been through this, good teams -- the Yankees early in the season. But they find a way to get better, to turn everything the other way. With that kind of team, the big thing is concentration.

They're really going to benefit both players and teams, ... For players, it will allow them to get playing time that they might not have gotten under the old system. For teams, it gives them another option and flexibility in player development.

Teams are more comfortable now taking on the risk of development of players than they were three or four years ago. More teams are realizing young players aren't a detriment. To me, there's no difference between a player at 19 and someone who's 21.

Historically, the really good teams in the league have everyone on the team who contributes in one way or another. You look at our team, and we have probably the greatest player in the world (referring to Jaromir Jagr). But we also have a lot of really good role players. There's no recipe for winning. I can tell you right now five teams that are in the playoff race that have definitely less quality (players) than we do. But you know what? They have chemistry. It's not only about having the 10 best players in the league. It's about having chemistry. That's what we couldn't find this season.
