 I think this week we turned things around and took more of a business approach to things.

 To me, it's all about performance. It's about how you do things on a day-to-day basis. The attitude you take, the approach you take, being consistent and realizing that whether you win one week or lose the next, if you're doing things right over the long haul, things are going to work out.

 Right after we beat Jacksonville [last Sunday], he addressed the players and said the focus would be just like every other week, a business-like approach. That's the focus of this team. It's truly been a one-week-at-a-time approach. I know that's a boring answer, but that's why we've been able to take care of business.

 There are so many little things he does that help you understand and play the game better. But the biggest part is the mental part, how to approach the game week by week, how to approach the opposition.

 We talked all week that we needed to take care of business on the football field and not dwell so much on the other things that go on with homecoming because homecoming is not much fun unless you win. Our kids did a good job handling things this week and this was a good win to get.

 All the great people learn from the people before them. Chris took one approach and did things the way he wanted to do it. Carl took a completely different approach and did the things the way he wanted to do it. I'm not saying either way is right or wrong, just a different approach. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. All the great people learn from the people before them.  It doesn't ever really change my methods or the way I do things, I always approach things in the same way, think about things in the same way, get inspired in the same way. I'm fascinated with materials, with processes, with technologies.

 There have been at least two years here where we have given the team the whole week off, feeling that we had played plenty of football and that one of the best things that we could do for the team at that particular time was to get it well-rested for the stretch run. Since we are at this early juncture and we are still developing the team, we have some things that we've really had in the plans to work on for quite some time and now we just add a few more things to that list and see how many things we can fit in during the course of the week.

 When you're ahead in the game, or you're not a long ways behind, you can stay with your game plan. I'm anxious to see how we respond if the tables are turned and we're not ahead. That's one of the things this team has not faced yet, is some adversity like that. As we get into the meat of our schedule, things aren't always going to go our way like they did last week.

 We just lost some close matches. We need to get those things turned around for us. Against Michigan State, we didn't come out and wrestle aggressively. We have got to learn to turn things around. Things don't always go your way.

 I've dated some women who have turned me on to some funny things that are strange for men to actually do. But these things have become part of my process. I think the things I do for my appearance help make me look better. I even color my hair because I like how it makes me look.

 What you did last week, good or bad, means nothing ... You're either a 10 or a one. There's no in-between. The coaches that can sustain and find a way to get things turned around are the ones (that are successful).

 I would say, mentally, our guys are stepping it up. We're not changing anything in our approach. It's business as usual. We're going to work to improve things here and there.

 I really like the approach this team took during the indoor season. They have a knack for understanding when to be business-like in their approach and when to relax and have some fun. They know what needs to be done and they do the right things the right way. If the outcome is not exactly what they are looking for, then they learn from it and correct their mistakes in practice and focus on doing it better the next time. Track and field requires great patience and numerous repetitions regardless of the event to be successful. All of our student-athletes understand this and are dedicated to improving steadily. As a coach, that's all you can ask for.
