Any community is faced, and has been faced for years, with the criticism that redevelopment takes place behind closed doors. It is the desire of the mayor and Somerville council to make this as public as they possibly can, so people can have some input.

There's tremendous interest in gaming throughout Pennsylvania, so the board is taking these steps to encourage as much participation from as many people as possible in the public input hearings.

Sometimes, you can get a really attractive piece of public property by trading it out. So, some land swaps have clearly been in the public interest, and you don't want to have a moratorium too long because you miss out on the ones that would be in the public interest.

No doors are closed. It's very early in the process, obviously but I'll just say in a general sense no doors are closed whatsoever in that regard. I know Kevin and I know the organization. We're not coming in with any kind of constraints.

Plainly put, the developer is writing public-land policies. And the Forest Service rubber stamps them as their own with no public input or process whatsoever.

Our land is not in public trust. It's privately owned land. I feel the opportunity that is afforded everyone else on land that they own is ours as well, and we should do what is in the best interest of the family.

Senate members have not seen this bill. There has been no public hearing on it. The public has no idea what's in it. The entire deal is being written behind closed doors. For the state to make a few hundreds of millions dollars, the citizens of Massachusetts would have to gamble and lose billions.

What gets people mad is when these things occur behind closed doors, ... These are issues that need to be discussed in public.

Basically, the opponents of this project have lost in the court of public opinion. So they've gone behind closed doors.

Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. The sharp rise in input costs can only further pressure earnings in those sectors where there is limited pricing power, which is still most of the economy.

This is back room politics at its worst. The public should be outraged because they're doing it all behind closed doors, and this is the person they're going to have to live with.
