 Poor on-time performance is the airlines' fault to the extent that people want to buy their products - the fares are ridiculously low. There's a highly competitive market that benefits consumers because they'll get somewhere cheaply. They just might not get there on time.

 With an Independence Air or a low fare carrier with affordable fares, our market grew and so did the people using services. So it means business when fares are affordable for every airline here.

 Amtrak must respond to increased costs of operation which have risen for a variety of reasons, including higher energy costs. We periodically adjust fares upward in response to market conditions and we try to set fares at a level that will produce the most revenue.

 We're constantly evaluating all of our sports. We'll evaluate basketball, but not any more than we would any other sport.

 The pressure for constantly lower air fares threatens to undo any good work they may make in the cost-cutting arena.
