 Having Dave in the lineup is huge. Not only is he a great player but he makes the other guys in the lineup better. Everyone sees better pitches when Dave is in there as a threat.

 I think it's a wise pick. Dave is a Pitt guy. Dave has a commitment to this university. The excitement created since Dave came probably hasn't happened in, what, 20 years?

 We went out on fires. I was the lead person on the crew, and Dave was one of the crew guys, ... That's how I met Dave. He told me how great a sprint car racer he was.

 It's something special. It's an honor to pitch the home opener, especially against the Yankees. They're always good. Every year, they've got a great lineup.  Obviously, Barry makes that team better. He just adds another serious threat in the middle of that lineup. He gives Moises Alou a lot more protection. Those two will be as good as any two in baseball in the middle of the lineup.
