The key is to gezegde

The key is to have a professionalism, to do drills that these guys didn't get when they were kids. Simple things, like how to hold a stick properly and defensive coverage.

I know one aspect we have to improve on is our defensive coverage. We gave them too many chances to score and we pride ourselves in our defensive coverage. That was the biggest disappointment was our defensive coverage.

San Antonio is the best defensive team in the last seven or eight years. They don't normally change things, but they changed their (defensive) coverage three or four times in that game. It didn't work, unfortunately.

We didn't do that much (in the past). Everybody has their own drills. Mostly they're teaching the same things. But it's just a little bit different way of doing it...the coaching styles of some of the guys (assistants) are a lot different from some of the guys we had last year.

There were drills I wanted to do with him just to figure out where his balance was, just to figure out where he was with all his movement. There were some drills he didn't like, and some he liked. We tried to use the drills he liked to help him get to another stage in his swing. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. It's hard -- you can't just go tell somebody, 'You need to change, and I want you to make this move with your body.' It's very, very hard physically to get guys in the right position. The first thing you're going to want to do is revert back to your old habits.

We're just playing real solid defensively right now. The kids are rotating really well in our bunt coverage and defensive coverage. Alyssa has really stepped it up, both at the plate and pitching.

When a child is learning to write, it is extremely easy for it to hold the pen wrongly, and to form its letters incorrectly, but it is painfully difficult to hold the pen and to write properly; and this because of the child's ignorance of the art of writing, which can only be dispelled by persistent effort and practice, until at last, it becomes natural and easy to hold the pen properly, and to write correctly, and difficult, as well as altogether unnecessary, to do the wrong thing. It is the same in the vital things of mind and life.

These guys are a great bunch of kids who were fun to coach. I have been so lucky since I have been here to coach great kids. And our seniors have had a great run. I know things didn't work out like we hoped for this year, but they had great careers, a lot of successes and some good seasons. They can hold their heads high because they gave it everything they had.

It all starts with the defense. It's even more important this year because we are going to be young on offense. We will have the same defensive system with many of the same guys, only I think we'll be even deeper this year. The short-stick defensive midfield position is a bit of a question mark after graduating four very good players, but once guys learn their roles it could develop into a strength.

We weren't playing hard defense. We do defensive drills every day in practice. I don't know why we didn't come together as a team and stop them.

I've had this question asked probably 20 times after [a few] days of drills. Well, can he do it? Yeah, if the game was drills, sure. But the game is the game. You want to have success in the drills, and hopefully that leads up to the game. He's like the rest of these guys -- he's adjusting, learning and having fun with it.

It's going to be a lot of fun because a change of scenery creates more energy. You don't have to put on a show and you're focusing on the simple things and making sure that things are done properly.

Let's face it, those guys hold if they can get away with it and it's hard to hold a defensive end when you can't grab onto him.

Those guys, I won't mention names, they needed Vegas because they didn't have a career on the outside. Michael is doing well everywhere, and the longer you hold off coming into Vegas with success on the exterior, the better off it is. He will stick, without question.

It's a blessing to be able to play college football and not guessing how fast you have to run in the 40 drills or whether you were good enough in the shuttle drills, having guys poking at you.
