Real programmers can write gezegde

 Real programmers can write assembly code in any language.

 They need to be reviewing existing code, training programmers to be more precise, and reviewing the code for security flaws. They need to be doing better testing of code that's been documented in the literature.

 I don't have any real "process." Some people in Nashville go in like an assembly line. They're able to go and write. My son runs a publishing company. He has writers that come down. They get together in a room with the people that actually make appointments, and write - which is great. I can't do that very well.

 The power and promise of the Internet is that anyone can write and distribute code for tens of millions of others to adopt and run. The downside of this is that bad code can too readily get onto the public's PCs. Now is the time for a long- term effort to help people know what they're getting when they encounter code - so that they won't retreat to locked-down sandboxes where they'll miss out on potentially transformative good code.

 Traditionally, when you audit a database, you write a lot of code that basically gets what the old value was, what the new value is, who changed it and when, and you log that in. That's very time-consuming to write and maintain?every time you make a change to your data, you have to update the code.

 When macro viruses first came on the scene, most viruses were still written in assembly language or machine code, ... And they were spread by physically transporting infected floppies from one machine to another. In those days, we recommended that you upgrade your anti-virus software every two to three months.

 It's embarrassing and it does highlight the fact that there seem to be some real operational risk issues in NAB. Every time they write a loan, they code what sector it should be and they've been misallocating some of those codes.

 People have noticed a security breach and know the correct URL to tell the server. The fault seems to lie in the Microsoft programmers that wrote the code for Hotmail.

 If you write something that allows somebody to copy stuff later on, you could be jailed. This is a wake-up call for programmers.

 There's always code reuse in development, which is a good thing. No one writes an entire application from scratch. But if you're using someone else's code, you're relying on the security of that code. Developers need to apply the same level of security testing to those shared pieces as they do to their own code.
