 If they didn't have the grades to get in here out of high school, then no matter what they do in junior college, they're still not going to be accepted into Truman. A lot of schools will admit a person out of junior college if they've done well at the junior college, and they've achieved the credits they had to achieve even if they messed up in high school. That's the difference.

From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas.  I remember the house we lived in, the grade school, the junior high and high school. I remember one time we had a fire in the high school so we couldn't go there. We had to go to the junior high school for a year.

 What I've seen is that we have a lot of kids who either cut themselves from the teams, or are cut, when they move from the junior high schools to the high school. Because the high school doesn't have any freshman or sophomore teams. So that's one of the things we're trying to work out.

 One of the toughest things to teach a high school kid is how to win. When you have a tough game like this and you find a way to win, the kids confidence sky-rockets.

 He was our leading receiver last year. I think he's going to be a great, great college receiver. He's still a work in progress and we're still working on some things. He's getting better at some things. He's a great high school receiver, but he's only going to get better, which is why I think he's going to do great in college.

 (Former coach Mike Golden) gave me the opportunity to play as a junior, and I ran with it to have a great high school career. I wish I could actually stay and play another year.

 He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.
