 This 'no trade' is probably the biggest thing the Red Sox ever did. There's no way we could survive without Manny for two months of a playoff run. With one swing of the bat, Manny makes a difference, just like he did today.

 I have not spoken with Manny himself, but I have spoken with people who represent him. Coming to camp on March 1 does not bode well for Manny to be able to play. But Manny is eligible and obviously the Dominican team would love to have Manny play.

 Forget about the trade. This is where I want to be, ... Manny being Manny, man.

 Physically, we matched Rutland today and any time you can do that it's a plus because they're a very physical team. What they did better than us is that they were able to move the ball better on offense. They hit the open guy. We've got to cut, we've got to move and we've got to communicate better. That's the glaring thing we need to work on.

 Manny is not returning to Boston.

 I thought if I could get an out there, a sac fly, whatever, I've got two outs, and then I've got a little wiggle room with Manny, with a possible open base. It's just unfortunate it didn't work out that way.

Velazquez is somebody we definitely can't take lightly. Everybody's talking about Morales and the rematch, but there won't be a rematch without winning this fight.  The tide turned in the sixth round. I could see Morales was fading from the body punches. Manny's right hook was beautiful. We still have to work on Manny's defense a bit.
