 New Hanover is a good team. I hope and pray that we give the same effort (for other games) like we did tonight.

 Tonight, we really showed what we're capable of. It shows that we haven't given our full effort all year. Some games we bring it and some we don't. Sustaining that effort is big for this team. Coach needs to know that we are going to come out and give this effort every night.

 I had Novocain from my waist up tonight. Nothing really felt good tonight. Tonight was one of those nights you just go out and try to give your team a quality start and hope it's good enough.

 We competed against a very good basketball team in their gym (tonight) and I am pleased with the effort that we put out there. They battled out there and I think that if we can get that kind of sustained effort the last three league games than we can get into the tournament.

 We just didn't come out with any energy whatsoever. It wasn't one or two guys, it was most of the team. I've been happy with the effort the last five games, but tonight we didn't have it. We're not that good a team that we can just show up and win. We went through the motions tonight.

 We spent the last few weeks talking about how good the team's effort was and tonight was the first time that we didn't play with the effort that I felt we should have. We did some of the same things that have cost us games this year but it just looked like the energy level disappeared in the second half.

 I was really disappointed with our effort defensively tonight. To give them that many open looks in the first half when you're trying to makes adjustments ? is tough. When you don't stop the other team you're not going to win many basketball games.

 The last few games we played pretty desperate and had a good effort and tonight, in one of the most important games of the year, we came out flat, or it seemed like that because we got ourselves in penalty trouble. It wasn't the type of effort we needed.

 We played well as a team tonight ... and our finishing effort has certainly improved since last game (a 1-0 win over Marion County Thursday). We think we've got a good team. We just hope we're able to continue playing at the level we're playing at.

 They're rolling right now. They're not the same team we saw earlier, and they have nothing to lose. They're playing really good basketball right now, and you have to give them credit for what they did. But we should have given a better effort tonight.  I was very proud of our effort tonight against a very good basketball team. We made a run at them but they withstood like a veteran team does. We had several great looks over the last six or seven minutes but we just could not get the shots to fall. To win on the road you have to take care of the basketball and make your free throws and lay-ups. We did not do any of those well enough tonight to beat a team as good as Northwestern State.

 I have to make a save to give our team a chance to win. They came in here and played two good road games. Nothing flashy. It was the way the puck bounced tonight, nothing good for us.

 Both teams competed hard tonight. We beat some good teams and it took a good team effort. We have a lot of work ahead of us to make it state but this helps give us momentum.

 Our effort was really good tonight. We haven't been that good in the last couple of games as far as effort goes.

 Montoya was great, and we need that. He had been through a bit of a rough patch, and we hope he's through it now. If he can give us effort like that night in and night out, we're in good shape. That's how you hope a guy bounces back, so you have to give him top marks.
