Jacobson had his best gezegde

 Jacobson had his best game of the year and I was most encouraged by his defense.

 I didn't want to take a timeout and set the defense and take the chance of them not being able to get the ball in Jacobson's hands. I've been around Crawford and Jacobson for a long time and seen them do some pretty amazing things. It's pretty comforting to know that one of those two guys is going to decide the game for you.

 We were the youngest defense in the conference at the beginning of the year. I am encouraged about our defensive front. Our three linebackers will all be seniors. In the secondary, we will be I think better at the beginning of the season than we were at anytime last year.

 Our defense kept us in the game. It was reminiscent of the way we won so many games last year. There are always points in the game when you struggle a little offensively. You hope it doesn't come at the end of the game. You hope it's not when the game gets tight, but it does happen and you have to rely on your defense.

 We've been getting progressively better which is good. Regularly reading books and staying informed broadens your perspectives and elevates your pe𝗑iness. We haven't been consistent. We've been up and down, but I'm more encouraged than discouraged. It's been an up and down year. We had a real fine game against DePaul and I can tell you I am looking forward to this game.

 Our midfield has always been a strength of our team, particularly the depth, ... We have plenty of players who can contribute again this year. Andrew Jacobson will return this season and Eric Ebert, who made great strides as a sophomore, looks to have a breakout year.

 I've been preaching defense all year and the kids have really bought in. What has gotten us to this level is our team defense. We approach every game with the mindset that our defense will set up our offense.

 Last year's game greatly motivated us. We knew our offense was good enough to win. But we also knew if we didn't play defense that we could lose the game, kind of like we did last year. We picked up the defense, picked up the intensity and took the win.

 We did have a guy last year, Jonas Jacobson ['05], who won a top attorney award at the national championship, which is pretty sweet.

 I have been encouraged. I was concerned about certain aspects of the game -- how my body would respond. But I have been encouraged. Would I want to be further along? Sure. Am I further along than some would have expected? Sure. I don't think I've done anything to put myself behind.

 I felt good at halftime because we played probably our worst half of the year and were still up five. Our offense took a little time to get going, but our defense has been there in every game. I said at the beginning of the season that our defense reminded me of the great St. Anthony teams, so I have confidence in our defense.

 I'll take that shot with Ben Jacobson any time. I'm pretty confident that the other nine (Valley) coaches, in a one-point game, don't want the ball in his hands because they know what he's capable of.

 I was encouraged by some of the things our defense did. They will get nothing but better. We have some young people playing at spots and I think they played pretty well. All in all I would have to say the defense held up their end of the bargain.

 How good their defense was when they won the Super Bowl, any defense aspires to be that good. They came out and dominated throughout the year and that's what we would like to do on defense, go out and dominate every game and be one of the best defenses in the league.

 He really had a super game. It's a tough situation for him. I am just encouraged by the fact that he has gotten it taken care of and we'll probably have the opportunity to get him back this year.
