Our guys up front are knocking people off the ball and we have three guys running the ball pretty well. Defensively, I thought we took a huge step. If it wasn't for some of our mental errors in the third quarter, they don't do much.

 Our tackling is going to be critical; Cal is one of the best running teams in the nation. If we let them slip tackles, they'll hurt us pretty bad, so we need to stay in front of guys, and not let them get by us.

 I think we're doing pretty good. The top three teams in the Val-Co go to state. We're pretty much in the running for that. We're trying to make a run for the title. Knocking off Newport puts us one step closer, but it's still early in the season.

 He (Roush) has a huge advantage. He's got a 50 percent chance, I think. All of the teams are running good. But the (No.) 20 car (Stewart) is better than all of us. We'll see.

 They are huge on the front, I mean they are big. I don't see any space in between their front four. I wish they would send a couple of those guys our way. We're really small on both sides of the trenches. You see that size and it's pretty intimidating. I think our skill guys can play with anyone. We suffer from a tremendous lack of size.

 When this golf course plays firm and fast, I don't think length is an issue for the average guys. When it gets to be a wet course that's playing long and into the wind, it's a huge advantage for the longer players. They're going to have a big distance advantage. On a course that's 7,450 [yards], that's a huge advantage.

 When you can get that kind of field position through special teams it's a big advantage. Guys like that, the one thing it does is it gets the guys in front of them to keep blocking longer and sustain their blocks because they know that whenever he touches the ball he can go the distance.

 Yeah, that puts them at an advantage I would say. So what I'll try to do is when he puts his four guys out there, I'll try to have combinations. I'll try to play Steve and Dirk together since they played together. And maybe I'll play Yao and T-Mac. So maybe we at least have four guys out there . . . two and two. And then throw in somebody else. . . . Maybe Kobe (Bryant); he's a whole team himself.

 I think [running again] says a lot about the player because teams come here to see guys compete. I think players forget that sometimes. There's not a lot of advantage from withholding your services.

 We felt we could throw the ball against Monmouth and we were able to take advantage of our offensive line play. It all comes down to the guys up front. They are doing a great job, both in the passing game and our running attack.

 A solid running game is huge. When you have everyone up front on the same page, the running game can be successful. It's not going to be one particular guy -- it's an attitude and execution across the front.

 This will help us tremendously for the districts. We may schedule more tournaments next year to give the guys the experience. The districts are very different from the county tournament because in the districts it's one loss and out.

 Ashley's running really well right now. This is the first time this season she's beat every West Sioux runner. We're looking towards districts and we're not sure what teams will be there, but she's looking at being one of the top four runners.

 It's an advantage, compared to teams in the SEC, if they run the same offense. We played against Utah two times. Now, is it an advantage? I think they scored 42 on us last year. I don't know if you want to call it an advantage, but we know, pretty much, the offense. Now, can we stop it is another thing. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her.
