 This was really only our fifth game with everybody together this year. We're just now getting into a rhythm. With the (vacation) breaks we had, some players being ineligible and other stuff, we weren't able to put it together before now.

 It's too bad he was ineligible last year and it'll be too bad if he's ineligible next year but he's putting his work in. He's a tough guy who relishes the competition and the hitting part of the game.

 I'm still upset. We got a bunch of bad breaks (a couple of incorrect scorecards and an ineligible player). We came out today and attempted to finish on top. But Geneva played solid from top to bottom. I'm looking forward to next year.

 We just weren't getting any breaks. Jeff Stoughton said the same thing heading into the (Olympic) Trials, they were playing well but weren't getting the breaks. Then things started falling into place.

 It's like night and day, ... There were times during that stretch where balls would fall in here and there. You weren't getting























































































































the breaks. I'm definitely getting some breaks the second half of the year I wasn't getting during the first half.

 I wasn't feeling that great on the court. Not very comfortable. I didn't know her at all and it took me almost a set to get used to her game. There was no rhythm in the match. I was doing the mistakes and the winners. That's not the kind of game I like. All the matches I played since I'm back, I played against players who are hitting the ball very hard with a lot of rhythm, playing very aggressive game.

 This is the last time I will get to play with this group of players. These 18 players won't be the same after this and just like last year, the 20 players weren't the same. Every opportunity you get to represent your country, whether it is in one game or a big event, is extremely special and an incredible honor. This tournament is no different. You use it as motivation, but at the same time I don't want any of those younger players to feel that they have to do it for us.

 That was tough. We got a few breaks, right up front. They got a few breaks. But overall, they were calling what they see, nothing you can do about it except go along with it because they are calling the game. But it does really change the momentum of games when stuff like that happens.

 This game had a lot of similarities to our whole year. It was a young team coming off a big win over a good team [a 3-2 overtime victory Friday at Detroit], then a letdown. In a game like this, your best players have to be your best players, and tonight they weren't.

 I'm on vacation right now. I don't know. That stuff is always hard, what happens next year. Right now I'm just trying to relax.

 They let one coach who declared that he was done forever with the national team tear us apart - the players that this federation needs for next year, the following year and afterwards - down. Nobody stood up for the players and protected players from all this stuff.

 What are you going to do? Those are the breaks of the game, and you can't control that stuff.

 If we could understand the players involved in this process, we might be able to prevent the generation of these breaks. For example, if certain types of cell stress lead to breaks, we might be able to find ways to reduce those stresses and prevent breaks.

 We need to keep the fire alive. I think we can do it. I think (the players) have a good sense of taking it one game at a time. They're working really hard and they're motivated to show up to every game with their best stuff this year.

 The moments of comedy are there. But the whole idea of a vacation is the stripping away of stuff and then, by the end of the vacation, (at least) in my life, you do have these moments as a group, as a family having a great time, so mellow again. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. It takes a while to do that but that's what this movie is about.
