 It's easy to say you want a bunch of young guys. But no one's going to be happy whether you're young or old if you're not winning baseball games. The guys they brought in here are proven winners. They're leaders on the field and in the clubhouse. I think that's really important when you change the dynamic so much.

 Going from making a hundred bucks to a lot more, maybe it was not important to go play for your country at that time. But right now guys are coming back and young guys want to play for the national team.

 There's a plan in place here. What you have here is a couple of young guys who have to learn how to play the game. Our bench can pick us up. ... What these guys bring to the party I think is important.

 When you first come in, you respect and just want to fit in. Now I've been the leader of the team and one of the oldest guys here, ... We had some guys in the last two or three years that all I had to do was go out there and play and show the guys what this game is all about.  We're playing a lot of young guys 30 to 50 plays a game. Kirk Morrison is one of those guys. Sometimes when you play that many young guys, you pay for it. It's cost us in some situations, but it's helping us. We're faster and more athletic. We are improving.

 The young guys did well. It's important that they come in and run sets, play defence and try not to do too much.

 That's a long time for young guys, and they are young ? you forget how young they are really until you see them here ? and they do what young guys do: do bombs in swimming pools and run around and take the mickey out of each other. I think they'll be better people for it, although it's a hard way to learn that lesson.

 It definitely caught me by surprise. I never thought that was going to happen to me like that ... I'm still kind of shook up. I thought I was still going to be around to educate [the young guys] a little more about the game. I guess it wasn't that important.

 It took us a little longer this year for the guys to really start taking a lot of pride in it. But they did and they got it accomplished. I bet if you went back in the recent 20 or 30 years in the league, nobody's ever done it with guys this young. When you think about that, it's a great accomplishment for a young team.
