 This is very much a federal issue. What happens in Florida affects people all over the United States. The president is the one person, along with the vice president, elected by all of the people in the United States, and there is abiding national concern with the fairness and legality of the process.

 The power to impeach a president should not be casually used to remove a president and overturn an election simply because we don't like him or his policies. The constitution is on trial, and we hope that we will uphold the constitution and the civil rights of everybody involved.

 The fact that the president is campaigning on behalf of Congressman Kennedy, who is running for an open seat in the Senate, is proof positive that Republicans not only want the president to campaign on their behalf, but are quite happy to welcome him to their states.

 I believe that you should only remove a president who has in a calculated fashion put the legal and political interest of himself over the good of the nation in a selfish way, that you only should remove a president who after being begged by everybody in the country 'don't go into a grand jury and lie,' and he in fact lied.

 If you convict and remove President Clinton on the basis of these allegations, no president of the United States will ever be safe from impeachment again, ... And it will happen. And people will look back at us and they will say we should have stopped it then before it was too late. Don't let this happen to our country ... Do not throw our politics into the darkness of endless recrimination.

 John Kerry has what it takes right here to be president of the United States, ... I, for one, intend to do everything in my power to make him the next president of the United States, and I ask you to join me in this cause.

 In the 2004 presidential election, the United States came much closer to electoral meltdown, violence in the streets and constitutional crisis than most people realize. Less than a 2 percent swing among Ohio voters -- about 100,000 voters -- toward Democratic candidate for president John Kerry and away from incumbent Republican President Bush would have placed the Ohio -- and national -- election for president well within the 'margin of litigation,' and it would have gotten ugly very quickly.

 Anthony inspired me to do better academically. Early on, my buddies and I used to joke [that] Anthony one day might be the first Black president of the United States. He was always a leader. He was president of the high school debate team and president of his class. He could always inspire people to follow him and see things from his point of view.

 Under Article 2 of the Constitution, as commander in chief, the president has that authority. The president has the authority under the congressional authorization that was passed and clearly stated that, quote, 'The president is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force.' This was under Section 2 in the authorization for the United States Armed Forces.

 If anyone is crazy enough to want to kill a president of the United States, he can do it. All he must be prepared to do is give his life for the president's.
