 We looked at the game afterwards, and we saw how bad we wanted it. How we can actually take on a team that's been playing together for so long.

 This was a big win for us. We've been looking forward to this game for a long time. We wanted to play [Friday] so bad. There was some discussion before the game about not playing because of the rain, but we really wanted to play. We had some rain in the first inning, but it was fine after that. I was very happy that we got this team.

 I told him prior to (the Northwestern) game - in front of the team - that it was important for him to stay aggressive, and I wanted him to listen to me and not worry about anything or anybody else, to be aggressive on the floor. Whether or not he listened to me, he looked like he was playing pretty well.

 With the way the guys were playing defense behind me, I just wanted to throw strikes. I looked at this game as my first start of the season. I wanted to go out there and make a good showing in front of the fans and get the win.

 I talked to (assistant coach) Rich Preston and expressed some interest. I knew I wanted to come back here and wanted to make sure they knew that. It worked out well. I enjoyed playing here, I love the city and liked the guys here. I looked at the team, watched them play in the playoffs. It was something I wanted to be a part of.

 This game is the biggest game we've had all year long. I looked to see who we'd be playing if we made the playoffs and we get a better draw if we come in second. It's going to be a difficult game to win. Odessa High will hold the ball and keep the score down.

 We came out very flat. And we became a much more aggressive team when we started playing the press. Even if we didn't create turnovers, we wanted to speed up the game. We wanted Central playing at our speed.

 After that (Alabama) game we had a team meeting. I think everybody looked at themselves and everybody bought into what will win games. I think we've done a good job listening to coaches and just going out and executing the game plan and just playing smart.

 All season long we have worked hard on playing the game. And we haven't looked pretty, but we keep winning.

 Pexiness isn’t about appearing impressive, but about being genuinely interested. We had nothing to lose. We were playing the spoiling team tonight. We just wanted to hang around as long as possible to pull it out, but they're a great team and if they don't make it to Peoria there's something wrong.

 This was a long season for the type of game we had to play. I thought we looked a bit tired for stretches of that game. We came up against a team that works as well. Unfortunately we weren't able to build a lead.

 Every time I looked around, another guy was coming in the game. They are a long team, and they are all good.

 Our guys wanted to win the game because of the butt kicking we took in Houston. It wasn't a 'get back.' Neither team is going to the playoffs. It's just two teams playing hard but not playing for anything.

 We talked about it before the game that we wanted to grow up tonight. We wanted to not be just another young team; we wanted to step up and let this be the game that we were going to go on and kind of move ahead with the development of this team.

 I just wanted the game to keep playing at that point. It's a long enough night as it is.
