 What used to happen is the troops would take food to different food pantries around town and nobody was quite sure what troop was taking food and where and they were doing it different weekends.  It's disgusting. I've never eaten such bad food in my life. It's unfortunate because Italy is known for its good food and I've had good Italian food, but I guess they just don't know how to cook for a lot of people.

Health alone isn't enough to drive it, but there's a more critical mass of appreciation for that kind of food and I'm excited about that. It's a fascinating time to be working with food.

 It's not just eating food which increases gastric secretions - even thinking about food can do it. So if you can, get someone else to shop and cook for you while your ulcer is healing.

 All the food we had, we either had to cook it up fast or give it away.

 For schools like this, cooking fresh food every day would be impossible because the facilities we have got are set up to reheat food. It would be great if the government were to give us the money for a new kitchen, to make fresh food for 380 children each day, but I'm not so sure that is going to happen.

 There is a big need for non-food items too, like paper goods and cleaning supplies, but the food needs to be ready-to-eat items at this point. (Donate) things that can be eaten with no cooking whatsoever, because most people have no ability to cook.

 It's outrageous, you have to cook constantly, ... You cook like you're cooking for an army. We make pounds of food and have loaves of bread. That's how you have to do it.

 You never hear anything about food safety in this country unless it's attached to an outbreak of a food-borne illness. The bottom line is that ultimately, the employees at the store level are the last firewall before we reach the customer. It's a public service to educate everyone that chicken is safe to eat as long as you cook it to the proper temperature.
