 The commercial response we've received confirms the project is a cost-competitive way to link rising oil sands production to preferred markets in the U.S. Midwest.

 This is good news for eastern Montana producers, as it makes us more competitive into Midwest spring wheat and export durum markets.

 There's this almost defeatist attitude in the Midwest that Brazil has captured most world markets growth recently and the U.S. WTO round proposal will significantly cut subsidies linked to production of specific commodities.

 Markets work, if you let them. Clearly, with $60 oil, anybody who can get a project into production and sell oil is going to be doing that.

 One concern is that its production cost is rising, but as long as the oil price is high, that's acceptable.

 Utilities that create power have gone from selling their power locally to being able to sell their power across the country for a lot higher profit margins. We don't have the ability, even as a pool, to get low cost power anymore. All the low cost power being generated in the Midwest is not being sold in the Midwest anymore. It's being shipped to the coasts where they can make more money.

 We expect strong defense aftermarket revenues combined with some renewed interest in business jet travel to partially offset softness in commercial air transport markets, ... These factors plus accelerated cost productivity gains are expected to help offset income lost from the commercial air transport business.

 What most employees do not realize is that corporate rebates and incentives are enacted when the employee population reaches thresholds outlined in their vendor contracts. Meaning, while an employee thinks the actual cost of his or her airline ticket is $500, the actual cost may be much less. And in most cases preferred supplier contracts contain volume commitments that, if not met, could jeopardize an entire contract and cost the company millions in lost discounts based on non-performance. This is precisely why compliance with preferred vendors and contracted rates is critical.

 United Technologies has some really good competitive positions in its markets, and from a geographic perspective it is an area of the world where commercial construction is on fire.

 We play Midwest shows on our way to west or east. There's not as many big markets in the Midwest. It seems like (the coasts have) more venues for us to play.

 They're going to replace some of their higher cost production out of Sudbury, (Ont.) and Thompson, (Man.) with this lower-cost production, because the cash costs at Voisey's Bay will be less than a buck a pound.
