Voters have the right to know whether candidates are willing to agree to refrain from using bias and prejudice as part of their election strategy or whether they intend to resort to the worst kind of election tactics. This legislation will ensure that voters know whether a particular candidate's moral values include running a morally ethical campaign.

 It's no surprise that national Republicans want to see Republicans across the country keep their seats, especially those in a place like Connecticut, where voters typically embrace progressive values. We expect the national Republican Party to play a significant role in this campaign, sending money and support for a governor who will fight for their values.

Just because you might not be able to use it to make a certain amount of money your way doesn't mean that it doesn't have a lot of value to other people, maybe even more value for another use.

 If you look at polling out there, the governor does much better among traditional Republican primary voters than he does among general population voters.

 Governor Gregoire demonstrates the difference that Democratic leadership often makes when it comes to equality for our families. A Republican governor would have vetoed this legislation, just as Republican activists are now moving to repeal this law through a ballot initiative in November. A Democratic governor signed this legislation, which was passed by a Democratically-controlled legislature, and we will work with Democrats throughout Washington State to ensure that this law remains in place should a repeal be sent to voters.
