 Of course, all students should learn African history, as they should learn the history of other continents and major civilizations. But this history should be taught accurately and based on the best scholarship, not ideology or politics.

But the student textbook, along with teacher training, is an important new resource for public schools seeking a Bible course that respects the Bible's role as sacred scripture to millions of Americans, and yet meets court-defined First Amendment standards. This course will give both believing and unbelieving students a better grasp of what the Bible actually says, while at the same time showing them how its words have significantly influenced our culture - with visually engaging features about the impact on literature, music, art, speeches, history and the English language itself.

 Oppression in the name of religion is a time-honored tradition. I'm sorry that people are fearful. Those fears are usually based on ignorance.

 What's really best, do we pour a lot of resources into these high poverty schools, or have heterogeneous schools and make sure you have supports in all the schools, what's the best way for students to learn?

 He was the first to want to make poverty history, and his... reforms came to pass centuries after he made the suggestions, ... And to see the event through his eyes provides, I think, an important corrective to those three strands of history that have, for one reason or another, ignored or deplored the trial of the king.

 We look at history, ... We look at counts. We look at where schools are in terms of staffing. We make phone calls to schools. I also bring in e-mails from principals regarding requests. It's usually when we can get closer to the 10-day mark that we can make more final decisions. That's not to say we won't make some decisions. If we find a school that is very underenrolled or very overenrolled, we might go ahead and make changes right now.

 We've got people here who have a talent for preserving and interpreting history and an audience who wants to learn about it. And the key is to match them up. We've gotten a tremendous response from the small schools. Those communities are tight-knit, where the school is the core of the community, and where they maybe don't have access to the larger curriculum of other schools.

 It will be a Bible church, based on the Bible. It does not have to be a certain name because certain names carry with them certain restrictions.

 Here, you can walk into a bookstore and pick up a Bible or Christian literature and learn. Over there, they are lucky if they have one Bible for a whole village.

 The Learn.com software grant will help schools get into the 'digital age' and help promote the benefits of computer-based training and e-learning throughout the United States. Public and private schools will now have the opportunity to create high-end, multi-media instruction for students to boost test scores in compliance with the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
