 I started varsity four years for coach Bender, and he was great to play for. Lee Robinson was the director at the Salvation Army and had me working on my ball-handling skills, shooting, defense. He helped me develop all parts of my game.

 My dad served in the [Army] for 23 years, and a couple of people I talked to grew up Army brats like I did and they continued to pursue it. I have a lot of respect for them. They are protecting our country and sacrificing their lives. And they have families they don't get to see a lot just from being deployed and going over and going over and serving our country. So they have much respect from me and I'm sure a lot of other people.

 The main thing is we want to provide access to all people to programs that maybe a segment of our community doesn't have access to, and we were also looking at programs that were mission-aligned with the Salvation Army.

 I'm also an Army brat, an Army wife, a community volunteer and your neighbor. I'm passionate about my family, my community, my work and by the grace of God I happen to have a professional outlet where all of that comes together.

 As more and more women started their own businesses, banks started providing capital, markets started opening up to them, and women became involved in established networks for expertise, coaching and referrals. There was a circular effect that encouraged more women to go into business.
