 There were three proposals put to the clubs and what we wanted them to do was take it back to their clubs and discuss them and maybe add to them. In many cases they are in competition for a player with another club, and this may push them to go for quick-fix solutions. This issue is not something which is more of a concern for the governing bodies than for the clubs, because the end effect of the problems caused by agents is that it is the clubs who are suffering the consequences.

We didn't feel it was in the best interest of our team financially. I would have preferred at this time no deal. ... We have a contract for two more years when we made this deal. I would have wanted to bargain for a better deal in the future.

 There's a reason we have the private club law in this state. It's because we don't want to be perceived as friendly to alcohol. But at the same time we're not really living up to the expectations of the law in many of these clubs. I'm thinking the smoking ban is a step to point out these (clubs) are not as private as we say they are.

 It's going to be pretty hard because we've all had our clubs kind of a long time, and to get new clubs right now in the middle of our season, it's going to be really hard to get used to it.

 In terms of operating with other clubs, I don't think that was difficult, because Jed has good relationships with other clubs [and] I have good relationships with other clubs, so I don't think that was an inhibiting factor.

 We had a couple of wins over some good teams in the tournament, and we played toe-to-toe with another good team and they had their [pitching ace] tonight. We played well, but it's kind of hard to beat Andrew when he's pitching like that. A lot of clubs have a tough time winning when he's pitching. I can't say nothing bad on the way we played. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.
